A broken nose is threatening Gareth McKinless’ participation in Derry’s Allianz Football League Division 1 final against Dublin next Sunday.

Mickey Harte confirmed that the centre back had suffered the injury in the early stages of yesterday’s 2-19 to 1-9 victory over Roscommon when he was replaced by Brendan Rogers.

“It seems highly unlikely, but sure who knows, strange things happen,” the Derry manager replied when asked if McKinless had a chance of playing in the League decider.

The win was the Oak Leafers’ sixth in seven games and affords them the opportunity to avenge their only defeat of the campaign to the All-Ireland champions at Croke Park.
