Zach Tuohy is set to make his 198th appearance in the AFL tomorrow night after being named to start for Geelong against Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

The feat will see Tuohy move up to second on the Australian Football League appearance list for Irish players, surpassing Kerry’s Tadhg Kennelly (197).

Former Dublin and Melbourne great Jim Styles still leads the way for Irish players’ appearances in the AFL by some distance, having featured 246 times throughout his career Down Under.

Portlaoise native Tuohy joined Carlton as a rookie a decade ago before moving to Geelong in 2016.

He has been in impressive form as of late for the Cats, alongside fellow Irishman Mark O’Connor who is named on the bench for Friday night’s showdown with the current league leaders.
