St. Thomas' Conor Cooney punches the air after scoring a goal against Liam Mellows
Holders St Thomas' edged out Sarsfields by 0-22 to 1-18 in a closely contested Galway SHC round 2 clash at Kenny Park this evening.
Conor Cooney was in sparking form for the Peterswell men as his eight first half points helped them to a 0-13 to 1-9 interval lead, they kept their noses in front to secure a second win in Group 3.
Mark O'Regan grabbed the game's only goal on 10 minutes for Sarsfields who put the champions to the pin of their collar in Athenry.
