The Northern Ireland Executive announced today that from Friday, 24 July, spectators can return to outdoor sporting venues where “access can be controlled and social distancing maintained” as part of their latest rules on easing lockdown restrictions.

From tomorrow, in Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Derry and Tyrone, crowds of up to 400 people will be allowed at GAA matches in grounds with perimeter fencing around the pitch and viewing access on all four sides. In all other grounds, the number of people attending matches is limited to 250 and should be lower if there is no perimeter fencing in place. All spectators must adhere to two metre social distancing protocols.

The above figures would include all players, management, officials and supporters while dressing rooms and indoor facilities remain closed.

The current limit on spectators at GAA matches in the Republic of Ireland remains at 200 until at least 10 August. GAA President John Horan has asked the Government to increase the number to 500 before then "as a way of being able to cater for the demand on the ground from our supporters."
