Westmeath defender Kevin Maguire admits that they are pleased to have taken four points from their opening three games of the FL2 campaign.

Even though, the Caulry clubman stressed to the Westmeath Topic that they should have beaten Cavan in round two, he feels that they are not in a bad situation where they are.

Last weekend’s defeat of Fermanagh made up for the loss to Cavan and Maguire is adamant that they need to push on from here, given the tight nature of the division.

“Against Cavan, we let that game slip; we should have come out of it with the two points. But four points from the first three games – we’ll take that for now,” stated Maguire.

“At the start of the league, we probably would have taken that with open arms. While we’re a little bit disappointed with how it’s gone against Cavan, we’re happy with the four points.”

Maguire has been in excellent form since returning to the squad, having missed last year’s campaign due to travelling abroad.

Next up for Westmeath is another home game as Armagh are the visitors to TEG Cusack Park on Sunday week.
