Monaghan stalwart Dessie Mone has brought the curtain down on his inter-county career.
In the briefest of tweets posted today, the versatile Clontibret clubman has revealed that he has worn the Farney County jersey for the last time.
An inter-county career that commenced with a league game against Carlow in Dr Cullen Park in February, 2004 yielded two Ulster SFC medals.
The 35-year-old featured as a 45th minute substitute in last year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final defeat to Tyrone – the county’s first appearance at that stage in the competition since 1988.
He recently picked up his seventh Monaghan SFC medal following the county final success over Scotstown.
