Corofin captain Michéal Lundy has stressed that they cannot afford to get caught up in the rivalry between themselves and county final opponents Tuam.

The sides clash in the Galway SFC final on Sunday afternoon and both are very familiar with each other not only on the field, but off it as well, according to Lundy.

Tuam Stars lead the Galway roll of honour with 24 titles, while Corofin are making up ground fast on 20, but Lundy told the Connacht Tribune that all they can think about is the game.

“A lot of the lads from both teams would have gone to school with each other inside in Tuam. So, that also adds a bit to it,” said Lundy.

“There is always going to be a rivalry between Corofin and Tuam, because they are two of the top clubs in Galway. But it is also something you don’t try to get caught up in either. Thankfully, we are a generally motivated bunch.”
