DJ Carey has been invited to join Brian Cody’s Kilkenny senior hurling management team.

According to a report in today’s Irish Daily Mirror, the five-times All-Ireland winning Cats legend will replace his former team-mate Derek Lyng as selector. Lyng stepped down to become Kilkenny U20 manager, succeeding Carey, who led the Black & Amber to Leinster U20 glory this summer.

Carey also managed the Kilkenny minor footballers this year.

Meanwhile, Mickey Comerford, who worked with DJ with the U20s in 2019 and the U21s last year, has been tipped to succeed Michael Dempsey as trainer with the seniors, the new appointments subject to ratification by the County Board.
