NH MONINNE 1-13
ST FECHINS 0-14
A goal from Odhran Loughran seven minutes into the Louth Senior Hurling Championship Final proved the difference as Nh Moninne reclaimed the title at The Grove on Sunday afternoon.
In what proved to be a keenly contested encounter, there wasn’t a lot to choose between the teams throughout the hour but in the end Nh Moninne did just enough to secure a two-point victory.
While Loughran’s goal was crucial, another central figure was Darren Geoghegan was who fired over nine points for the Dundalk men, while Darren O’Hanrahan turned in an excellent performance at midfield.
Aside from conceding the early goal, St Fechins had the better of the first half and with Paddy Lynch and John Crosbie on target the teams went in at the break level at 1-6 to 0-9.
The momentum remained with the Termonfeckin side in the third quarter and with Crosbie adding to his tally they moved 0-13 to 1-8 in front.
However, Moninne managed to drag themselves back into contention as the Fechins failed to take the chances to kill off the game with a couple of missed goal chances.
Once again Geogheghan stepped up to the mark and with Graham Harrington also on target they held out to win by twopoints and allow captain Paul Challoner to accept the cup on behalf of the team.
