Galway's two-goal heroine Mairéad Seoighe wasn't surprised to see her side's All-Ireland ladies football semi-final against Mayo go down to the wire.

Speaking to RTÉ after Roisín Leonard's late free handed the Tribeswomen a dramatic 2-10 to 2-9 victory at Croke Park, Seoighe commented: "It was tough. We knew coming out here today there'd be no easy task. We knew Mayo weren't going to leave anything in the bag and were going to throw everything at us.

"It was just going to come down to who wanted it more. No matter what the lead was at any stage, we knew it was going to be a fight right to the last whistle and that's exactly what it was."

Galway will now face three-in-a-row chasing Dublin in their first Brendan Martin Cup decider since 2005, but Seoighe isn't thinking about that just yet.

"Today is a great occasion and enjoy it for today. We'll be back to the ground work again come Monday and I suppose we'll be looking at Dublin. 

"We've nothing won yet. One step closer but it's not the end of the ladder," she added.
