Donegal’s Michael Murphy and Cork’s Patrick Horgan have been rewarded in football and hurling respectively for their championship performances in July with the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month Awards.
Team captain Murphy was a driving force behind Donegal’s Super 8’s campaign with a dominant display against Meath and an inspirational contribution in his team's draw against Kerry where he scored a last minute free to add to his overall total of 1-7.
Meanwhile, Horgan has picked up a second PwC GAA/GPA award of the season after his free-scoring form has seen him pick up the hurling award with an emphatic 3-10 with 2-2 from play in the Rebel County's All Ireland Quarter final against Kilkenny.
GAA President John Horan said: “The two players are a credit to their clubs and their counties and have exemplified the pride and passion which are central to our games."
Speaking on behalf of the GPA, Chief Executive Paul Flynn added; “Congratulations to both Michael and Patrick on winning their respective awards.
"Both players have been exceptional on the pitch throughout the championship and are deserving winners of the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month Awards for July."
