Munster MFC: Kerry see off Clare to set-up Cork final date

Kerry 1-16

Clare 0-11

Kerry will meet Cork in the Munster minor football championship final next month after proving too strong for Clare in Tralee this evening.

Emmet O’Shea’s goal after 11 minutes gave the hosts control of this phase 2 round 3 clash as they kicked on for a commanding 1-8 to 0-3 lead at the break.

Dylan Geaney (2), Kevin Goulding and Jack O’Connor raised the Kingdom’s white flags in the run up to half-time – when a free from Jamie Stack at the other end relieved some of the pressure for the young Banner men.

Shane Meehan fired a quick brace of points early in the restart to give the visitors a glimmer of hope prior to O’Shea sending over a pair of his own and O’Connor cancelling out another free from Stack.

It means that Kerry are now in line for another Munster final date with Cork on June 22, having dished out a hammering to the Leesiders two weeks ago.
