Sigerson Cup: St Mary's shade close quarter-final encounter with Maynooth

February 06, 2019

St Marys' Colm Byrne celebrates.

St Mary’s have qualified for the last four of the Sigerson Cup thanks to a two-point quarter-final victory over Maynooth University at DKIT today.

The 2017 winners got their better of their opponents on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-13 and overturned a 0-7 to 0-8 half-time deficit in the process.

Four unanswered points at the start of the second-half from Shane McGuigan (2), Ryan Coleman and Stephen McConville put the winners in pole position but Maynooth fought back to restore parity by the 48th minute thanks to a Stephen O’Hanlon leveller.
