Laois manager Eddie Brennan insists that they need to get as much work done as possible before the start of the NHL.

The O’Moore County picked up a win over Offaly in the Walsh Cup last Sunday, but Brennan stressed to the Leinster Express that they need to be prepared to face Galway in the opening round of the NHL 1B campaign at the end of January.

“The 27th of January is our mark to go to Galway, and you can’t just go up to a place like Salthill with four, five or six weeks of training done,” said Brennan.

“You have to have a good belt of training behind you, you want to be in the best position possible to take on a team like Galway.

“So everything’s come forward, and a game like that (against Offaly) was a good battle, exactly what both teams would have wanted.”
