Former Offaly star Michael Duignan has been handed a 12-week ban from all GAA activities.

The Irish Independent reports today that the two-time All-Ireland winner has been hit with the suspension for allegedly using threatening and abusive behaviour towards an official during his Ballinmere side’s Offaly U21HC quarter-final defeat to Kilcormac/Killoughey.

The same game also saw Duignan’s son Sean red-carded in the latter stages and was eventually awarded to Ballinmere after their opponents had fielded an ineligible player.

Should Duignan have his punishment upheld than he will be unable to play any part on the sidelines for his team over the next three months.
