Cancun in Mexico is set to be the destination for All-Ireland senior hurling champions Limerick’s end of year holiday.

The reigning Liam MacCarthy Cup champions are already travelling to Boston in November for the Super 11s, but final plans are being put in place for their two-week break in Cancun after Christmas.

The Mexican city seems to be a popular destination for GAA team holidays as both 2017 finalists Galway and Waterford went there at the beginning of the year.

The holiday is richly deserved following an unbelievable year for the Shannonsiders who ended a 45-year wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup to return to the county.

A number of fundraisers are in the pipeline in Limerick including a race night with monies raised going towards the hurlers’ training fund.
