Scenes that marred the end of the Kerry senior hurling championship final could be investigated by the county's CCC.

Tipperary's Fergal Horgan who refereed the 2017 All-Ireland SHC final was brought in to officiate at the Kerry final between Lixnaw and Kilmoyley.

At the end of the 60 minutes, Horgan signalled that there would be three minutes additional time, but a further two minutes was added during the stoppage.

Lixnaw were leading heading into the 65th minute when Kilmoyley were awarded a late penalty. Trailing by two points, Kilmoyley skipper Daniel Collins was told by Horgan that his penalty strike would be the last action of the game. The shot was saved by Lixnaw goalkeeper Martin Stackpoole, but the rebound was finished to the net, but Horgan had already blown for full time.

Horgan then had to be escorted off the field by Gardai and officials as members of the Kilmoyley club, both players and others involved, tried to remonstrate with the Tipp official in an alleged robust manner.

Now the Kerry CCC are awaiting the referee's report before deciding what course of action is to be taken.
