Members of the Wexford hurling squad made their way by bus to Clare in order to talk Davy Fitzgerald into staying on as manager.
Up to 12 players made the bus journey from Wexford to Clare to talk to Fitzgerald about staying on in the position for another year at least.
There is strong talk that the former Waterford and Clare manager is about to step down from the role and he hinted at the end of Wexford's campaign this year that the travelling was something he had to consider.
The players had already spoke to Fitzgerald on an individual basis to try and convince him to stay, but now they have adopted the collective approach to persuade the Clare native to remain at the helm.
Fitzgerald admitted to the Wexford People that he is not far away from making a decision on his future.
"I have a very close relationship with the players which is something I will be considering," said Fitzgerald. "I am not that far away from making a decision but the latest move of the players will be taken on board when arriving at this.
"We are not that far away as a team but I have other matters to take on board in arriving at a decision. The decision will be sooner rather than later."
