Neil McGee's appeal against the red card he received in Donegal's Ulster SFC semi-final win over Down last Sunday was thrown out by the Central Hearings Committee in Croke Park on Thursday night.
The three-time All-Star full back was sent off by referee Anthony Nolan for allegedly kneeing Connaire Harrison in the back after just 13 minutes of the Clones clash.
He is now expected to take his case to the Central Appeals Committee in a bid to be free to play in tomorrow week's Ulster final against Fermanagh.
