Leinster U21HC: Dubs ease past Carlow into quarters

June 06, 2018

Dublin eased by Carlow in Round 2 of the Leinster U21HC this evening.

Dublin 4-18
Carlow 0-12

Dublin hammered home four second-half goals to crush Carlow in this evening's Leinster U21 hurling championship Round 2 clash at Newatch Cullen Park.

Paul Crummey, Cillian Costello, Cian O'Sullivan and Eoghan Dunne fired in the goals for the visitors as they cruised towards a quarter-final date with Westmeath.

The Dubs dominated a large portions of the first-half to lead by double scores (0-12 to 0-6) at the break, with Colin Currie deadly accurate from frees and Ronan Hayes, Crummey and Dunne all wreaking havoc on the Barrowsiders' defence as Chris Nolan went on to account for 0-11 of the hosts' final tally.

A minute into the restart Crummey had the sliotar in the hosts net before substitute Costello repeated the trick to send the young capital men on their way in this one-sided encounter.

Paul O Brien's side must now overcome the Lake County next Wednesday evening (June 13th) if they are to edge closer to their success of 2016 and reach the last four of the province.
