The GAA's plans to keep the month of April free for club activity look to be in ruins after several Allianz League games were postponed today due to snow.
The decision not to re-fix the Down v Tipperary football game for tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, means it's likely that the final round of Division 2 games will be pushed back a week to Easter weekend, March 31 / April 1. The divisional final would then be played on the weekend of April 7 / 8.
While the majority of today's postponed games have been rescheduled for tomorrow, there is no guarantee they will be played, which would cause further headaches for the GAA fixture-makers at both inter-county and club level.
Tipp v Down will be refixed by the CCCC on Tuesday. This means its likely all Division 2 games will be pushed back a week meaning Tipp footballers will play final round Easter Wknd. Will have implications for Tipp club championship games scheduled for April #AllianzLeagues #GAA- Stephen Gleeson (@StephenGtippfm) March 18, 2018
Down Match is Off.Option was to try play it tomorrow but it's not working out.Lads have to work tomorrow. Its going to get messy from here on in- Benny Coulter (@BennyCoulter82) March 18, 2018
The GAA shot themselves in the foot to try push all the matches into 9 weeks.I would extend the intercounty season never mind cut it.All over in August is a sham- Benny Coulter (@BennyCoulter82) March 18, 2018
The GAA really take players for granted. 'Game's off today, lads, play tomorrow instead.' Not as if anyone would have made plans for a Bank Holiday.- Kieran Cunningham (@KCsixtyseven) March 18, 2018
