Promotion is in their own hands, but Tipperary football manager Liam Kearns isn't getting carried away ahead of the Premier's treks to Down and Cavan.

Tipp were in Division Four of the national football league in 2014. They currently lie joint second in Division Two and know they will take their place in the top flight if they can defeat the Mourne County and the Breffni boys over the coming weekends.

"I haven't played Down in my time, but it's up in Newry, they will be very hard to beat up there," the Kerryman told gaa.ie. "We wouldn't even consider promotion at this stage. We have got to go up north twice in seven days.

"Cavan are top of the table. Down are the most unluckiest team not to be on eight points. They should have beaten Cavan last night, they should have beaten Clare the last day. We have two good tests and that will be great for the championship."
