Leinster Council have been dealt another headache over the O'Byrne Cup final following Croke Park's decision to postpone all of this weekend's Allianz League fixtures.

Meath and Westmeath were originally supposed to play for the provincial trophy on January 21st but - due to a water-logged pitch at O'Moore Park - the final was switched to Mullingar's Cusack Park on February 18th.

With Kingspan Breffni unplayable for Meath's Allianz League clash against Cavan on February 10th, the decider was moved again to March 11th as the two neighbouring counties played each other eight days later at the Cavan town venue.

Now, for a third time, the Leinster Council are set to reschedule the derby final as a result of Storm Emma claiming this weekend's Round 5 fixtures in the Allianz Football League. The Royals were down to welcome Cork to Navan on Sunday, while Colin Kelly's Westmeath were set to host fellow promotion chasers Fermanagh in Division 3.

The GAA confirmed this afternoon that all games in Round 5 have been postponed to the weekend of March 10/11, meaning that another date will have to decide where the Matt O'Byrne trophy rests for 2018. Provided that neither team reaches a league final, March 31st/April 1st would be the closest weekend available for the final to be played.
