John Heslin has been named as Westmeath's new football captain.
The star forward skippered St. Loman's to their third successive Westmeath SFC success and to the brink of a Leinster club SFC title last year. He takes over the role from Ger Egan, who captained the Lake County to back-to-back Leinster SFC final appearances in 2015 and '16, and to an Allianz League Division 4 title last year.
Meanwhile, highly-rated full back Tommy Doyle has been appointed as senior hurling captain in succession to Aonghus Clarke, who is currently travelling overseas and won't feature in the upcoming Allianz League campaign.
