Odhrán MacNiallais made his first appearance for Donegal's senior footballers in over a year last night but it wasn't one to remember for the Ghaoth Dobhair clubman.

MacNiallais was black carded after just 12 minutes of his side's Dr McKenna Cup third round clash against Fermanagh in Ballybofey after tripping Ernesiders midfielder Eoin Donnelly.

Under the stewardship of former Donegal boss Rory Gallagher, Fermanagh went on to win the game by three points off the back of a superb display from another returnee in the form of full-forward Seamus Quigley.

The Roslea ace, who was a late inclusion to Gallagher's side, struck 1-7 with his goal in the 49th minute proving the difference between the sides as it finished 1-13 to 1-10.

Fermanagh now face Tyrone in the competition's semi-finals this Sunday while Donegal take on Monaghan in their refixed round two fixture on the same day.
