The last-minute postponement of six inter-county games due to frozen pitches this afternoon hasn't gone down well with supporters of the teams affected.

Three Dr McKenna Cup, two FBD Connacht League and one Keogh Cup game were called off at short notice much to the frustration of fans who, in some cases, had made long journeys to see their team in action.

To compound matters, the Mayo v Galway football game in Castlebar was postponed two minutes after its official throw-in time of 2pm. The three postponed McKenna Cup ties -  Armagh v Derry, Down v UUJ and Monaghan v Donegal - were originally put back by half-an-hour to 2.30pm, only to be eventually called off.

According to the Galway Footballers Homepage on Facebook, Galway and Mayo fans were left fuming after no refunds were given out after their game in Elvery's MacHale Park was postponed.

"Supporters hoping to get their money back were instead given a ticket for the re-fixed game," the post read.

"Not everybody will be able to travel to the re-fixed game, which could be played midweek."
