Mayo senior footballers' expenses rise to €1.1m

Mayo spent a whopping €1,123,995 on its senior football team in 2017, an increase of €131,941 on last year's figure.

Delegates at tomorrow's Mayo GAA convention in Hotel Westport will be informed by treasurer Kevin O'Toole that total expenditure on county teams was €1,514,857, with Stephen Rochford's senior squad accounting for the bulk of that figure, which includes the team holiday to South Africa later this month.

Despite the huge outlay, the county board posted a surplus of  €203,275, which is an increase of €115,946 on 2016.

The total expenditure for the year was €3,130,549, which is an increase of €140,890.

€104,951 was spent of the U21 footballers, €62,053 on the minor footballers, €6,071 on the junior footballers and €211,864 on the senior hurling team.
