Next year's Limerick senior hurling championship will have a new 'Super Six' format.
The decision to divide the 12-team competition was passed at last Tuesday night's county board meeting in Claughaun GAA clubhouse.
The new format is made up of two groups of six and will be in place for the next three years, with the top two teams in Group 1 qualifying for the competition's semi-finals and teams three and four into quarter-finals against the top two teams from Group 2.
The 2018 Limerick SHC will begin on either April 7 or April 14 and the two groups are as follows:
Group 1: Na Piarsaigh, Kilmallock, Doon, Patrickswell, Adare, Ballybrown.
Group 2: Ahane, Cappamore, Knockainey, Monaleen, South Liberties, Murroe-Boher.
