Shane O'Neills Club Notes
May 20, 2013

Some our senior team in their new club gear which was purchased with the help of the Player Sponsorship scheme.
Seniors
Our senior footballers weren't in competitive action over the last week but they did have a challenge game against Newry Bosco on Friday. The Shanes won the game but overall it proved to be a good work out for the lads as they prepare their next league game against Killeavy on Friday evening.
Senior Reserves
Our senior reserves were in championship action last Wednesday night against current holders Madden but went down to a five point defeat, 2 - 13 to 0 - 14. The Shanes put in a hard working performance, particularly those playing their first game of the season but unfortunately the result didn't go their way. They return to league action last Wednesday night with a game against Crossmaglen.

U16 Boys
Our U16 boys returned to league on Thursday evening with a game against St Bridget's in Lisummon. Once again the Shanes were without a couple of key players but great credit must go to the lads who took to the field but unfortunately, despite putting in a decent performance, they fell to a narrow defeat.
U14 Boys
The U14 boys put in a great performance on Tuesday night to record another all important league win, this time over Granemore. Despite the atrocious weather conditions both sets of players gave a great exhibition of football but it was the Shanes who ran out deserving winners on the night. The lads are back in league action on Tuesday with a game against near neighbours Carrickcruppen.
U14 Girls
Our U-14 girls continued their preparations for Féile 2013 with a comprehensive win over St. Enda's last Sunday evening to remain unbeaten in U14 Div 1 League. Despite the challenging weather conditions and getting off to a slow start the Shanes stuck to their task and totally dominated the game with Blaithin Mackin and Chloe McAllister scoring first-half goals. The Shanes continued to control the game after the break with Lia Robb scoring a great goal which was backed up by some great points from Ciara Jones and Jessica Watters. Leanne Lennon put in a brilliant display whilst Blathin Mackin was the outstanding player in the game. The next league game is away to Crossmaglen on Sunday 26th May. The Shanes scorers were: Blaithín Mackin 1-6, Chloe McAllister 1-2, Lia Robb 1-1, Jessica Watters 0-2, Ciara Jones 0-02(1f), Ruth O'Gorman 0-1, Sharmaine Hillen 0-1, Jade Beattie 0-1.
U12s
Our U12s will return to action this Wednesday evening with a game against Armagh Harps. The game is scheduled to throw-in at 6.45pm and all players are asked to be at the club for 6.00pm.
U10s
Our U10s took two teams with to Newry Bosco on Sunday morning to take part in a couple of challenge games. Both the games proved to be entertaining affairs with the young boys and girls from both clubs playing some great football. The Shanes would like to thank Newry Bosco for their hospitality on Sunday morning. Training for the U10s continues on Friday nights from 6.00pm to 7.00pm at St Colman's College and all boys and girls at this age group are requested to attend and be on the pitch for 6.00pm.
U8s

U6s

Camogie
Well done to the U14 camogs who recorded a great win over a good Culloville side on Tuesday evening in the Championship.
Senior Team Sponsorship
The club and our senior team in particular, would like to thank all the numerous businesses for their generosity in the recent Player Sponsorship scheme which has helped to contribute to the running of the senior team and look forward to their continued support over the coming years. We will mention five players and their sponsors every week in our notes in recognition of their donation to the club: David Boyle - The Yellow Heifer, Damien Brady - ABM Autorepairs, Micheal Brady - Gavin Brannigan, Ryan Byrne - Fiveways, Damian Doyle - Gregory's Shop.
Last Man Standing Competition
The club recently held a Last Man Standing competition and after an exciting final few weeks of the competition it was David "Chief" Boyle emerged as the winner.
Hard Luck
Hard luck to the Armagh Ladies minor team, particularly Aimee Mackin and Louise Kenny, who lost out to Monaghan by two points in the Ulster Final on Saturday afternoon. Hard luck also to Greg McCabe and his Armagh minor colleagues and Conor McKeown and his Armagh senior colleagues who both lost out in the Ulster Championship against Cavan on Sunday.
Well Done
Well done this week to our underage footballer Miceal Carragher who took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil game at half-time during the Ulster Championship game between Armagh and Cavan at the week-end and scored a great point.
