Christy Ring Cup: Down tops in Ulster derby
May 11, 2013
Down 1-20
Armagh 1-11
Down's bid for Christy Ring Cup honours remains on course after they got the better of Ulster neighbours Armagh in Crossmaglen.
With Paul Brannif in good scoring form - the centre-forward finished with 0-8 to his credit - the Mourne County led by 0-12 to 0-5 at the half-time interval.
David Carvill pulled a goal back for the hosts but substitute Donal Hughes replied for the Paul Flynn coached outfit and they ran out convincing winners.
Afterwards, the former Waterford ace told the Irish Independent: "We still have work to do.
"There is certainly no room for complacency and we can expect to face tougher opposition as we move on."
