Armagh wait for the start of their Christy Ring Cup with Meath at Lomans Park Trim
Armagh hurling manager David Kennedy says his charges put in "serious work" against Meath.

The Orchard County fell to a seven-point defeat in the first round of the Christy Ring Cup at Trim on Saturday and Kennedy was heartened by the players' attitudes:

"I'm happy about the performance and the commitment and that was as good as the team hurled this year," the former Tipp hurler says in The Irish News.

"However, I have to be disappointed at the way the game panned out.

"Maybe we should have been more in front at half time after playing with the breeze. We hit a lot of wides, but that is not an excuse as Meath missed plenty of scoring chances too.

"Four or five lads turned in fantastic performances, but all 15 put in serious work and I'm delighted with the commitment given. It was good to see the desire by all and now more of that will be needed next week."
