Gallogly, Larry

Larry Gallogly R.I.P

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Larry Gallogly during last week. Larry was a life-long Carrickcruppen supporter, and member of a family whose name was synonymous with Carrickcruppen Club in its early years. His father, Francie, and grandfather, James, were both founder members of the club and james was also the clubs first treasurer. For years club meetings were held in the Gallogly home on the quarter road and they would often run into the wee small hours of the morning. Mrs Gallogly, James wife, was also immersed in club activities, especially in providing tea and sandwiches at her home for teams after tournament games.

Larry himself followed on the family tradition of helping out around the club, and put his skill as a bricklayer to good use when called upon. The perimeter wall around our present football pitch is a good testament to the pride he took in his workmanship. Above all, Larry was a true gentleman, much loved by everyone whom he came in contact with; a great conversationalist who loved telling a good yarn among his friends, and one who embodied true community spirit.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and we in Carrickcruppen club extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Lena, and to his sister Kathleen, and his brothers Jimmy, Dessie, Sean and Eymard and to the extended family.
