Dawson: Saffrons will do their talking on the pitch

Frank Dawson believes Antrim have every chance of upsetting Monaghan in the Ulster SFC.

The Saffrons host Malachy O'Rourke's high-flying charges at Casement Park in their provincial quarter-final at Casement Park on June 9th and manager Dawson is adamant that his side are worth a flutter at odds of 10/3 to prevail:

"If you listen to all the scribes out there, Antrim don't even merit even being bracketed among the other eight Ulster counties, which is quite disparaging," he says in The Irish News.

"Antrim have some very good footballers and we will give our answer on the pitch. Monaghan have everything to lose; we have nothing to lose.

"We know we are going to be up against it. Monaghan ended up winning Division Three. Monaghan will be overwhelming favourites not just to beat us but probably to make an Ulster final.

"People talk about Cavan and Fermanagh in glowing terms. We beat Cavan and we drew with Fermanagh. We are not that far away."

As for the absence from his championship squad of Cargin trio Tony Scullion, Tomas McCann and Michael McCann, Dawson states: "We feel that we have a stronger squad now."
