Neil McManus says the Antrim hurling Class of '13 will "never give up".

The Glensmen had to dig deep to see off Westmeath in the preliminary round of the Leinster SHC at Mullingar on Sunday afternoon and Cushendall clubman McManus, who bagged 2-4, believes his team-mates showed their character in spades:

"Certainly no complacency, there can never be when you are playing away from home in the Leinster championship," the Saffrons' attacking ace is quoted in The Irish News.

"I think the training we have done and how galvanised the squad is really came out. We were level there a couple of times but we kept coming up with the answers.

"We went a man down and still came up with the answers. It's very encouraging the heart we showed, even more than the hurling we displayed.

"You have to take your chances when they present themselves. I think we saw the support there and how much they appreciate the work that we are putting in.

"Everyone in Antrim knows this is a work in progress and it will be another two or three seasons before we see the best out of this team.

"We are working really hard and the boys are trying their lamps out. I think we showed that we will never give up and any time we pull on the saffron jersey we will be working hard for the entire game."
