A big week for Sean MacDiarmada C.L.G.

August 04, 2010
This week sees a very busy week for the Sean MacDiarmada club from the Falls Road, Belfast. As a result of the hard work of the juvenile development committee headed by Gerard Turley within the club there are a number of events this week as well as important senior fixtures which require the support of all club members.

On Wednesday night our senior hurlers take the field in a division 4A game against All Saints, Ballymena with a throw-in time of 7.30 at Boucher Park playing fields. A victory will go a long way to ensure that the Macs retain their status in this division for next year and the support of all members would be greatly appreciated.

Thursday 05th August sees what can only be described as a momentous occasion for the club as G.A.A. President Christy Cooney will be honouring the club with his presence. He will be attending a juvenile training session at the Grosvenor L.C. from 7.00 - 8.00pm. The President's attendance was secured with some diligent behind the scenes work by Terry McGlone. The juvenile committee has managed to secure sponsorship for two rigs and these will be presented on Thursday evening by the sponsors to the club. The juvenile training session will be followed by a question and answer session in the clubrooms with An t-Uactharain.

On Friday our senior footballers make their bow in this year's Junior Football Championship. The game takes place at 7.00pm at Cardinal O'Donnell's pitch MacRory Park on the Whiterock Road against Mitchels. Once again all members are requested to attend to lend their support to Charlie Nugent's charges.
On Saturday morning our juveniles get their first taste of competitive action in an U-14 7-a-side blitz organised jointly by the Lisburn Sports Council, Colin Area and Active Communities G.A.A. the venue will be Brooke Activity Centre Twinbrook and the games will commence at 10.00am. The juvenile development committee will see this as the denouement of over a year's hard work. Gerard Turley has said "We would see this is the beginning of our club's future. After over a year working behind the scenes to finally see our kids out on the field will be a moment which will last long in the memory"

Again all members and parents are requested to attend to lend their support to our kids.

On Sunday 08th August there is no let-up as a sponsored walk organised by the juvenile committee will take place on the National Trust Black Mountain route. The proceeds from sponsorship will be divided evenly between Oxfam Ireland and funding for juvenile equipment for the club. Sponsorship forms are available for any members who wish to walk the 10km route from Chris Turley, club treasurer or from the clubrooms. If you simply want to turn up to do the walk you are more than welcome. Tea and sandwiches and other refreshments will be provided in the clubrooms afterwards. Again the support of all available members is required.

The juvenile training will also take place as normal on Sunday 08th August from 1.00 - 2.00pm at the Grosvenor L.C.
Once again we would ask for the support of all our members during what is a defining week for Sean MacDiarmada C.L.G.
