NHL 2: Hyland sparkles in Laois win
March 14, 2010
Willie Hyland hit 0-12 as Laois recorded a superb NHL Division 2 victory over Antrim in Casement Park.
Laois 2-19
Antrim 1-12
Save last summer's All-Ireland qualifier, Laois have had a poor record against the Glensmen in recent years, but they set the record straight with their best performance of the campaign to date.
The Laois defence were rock solid in the early stages as two first-quarter goals from Neil Foyle gave the visitors a commanding lead. Antrim's hopes were further hit when Liam Watson was red-carded for a wild pull on Eoin Costello and Laois led by 2-7 to 0-9 at the break, despite having played against the wind.
A Neil McManus goal early in the second half gave Dinny Cahill's side a glimmer of hope, but Laois soon took over again with Clough-Ballacolla's Hyland giving a man of the match performance.
