McManus keeps faith in Glensmen

Antrim's Neil McManus
Antrim marksman Neil McManus believes the Glensmen can still challenge for promotion.

Cushendall clubman McManus was on target three times as Dinny Cahill's charges laboured to a one-point Division Two win over Carlow in their opener at Casement Park last weekend and - with the Dunloy contingent set to return - he thinks Antrim will improve as the year progresses:

"It was very important to get off to a winning start because we've maybe half a dozen players to come back into the team.

"You have the likes of Wexford, Clare and Laois in our division, who are all good teams. I'd say, if we had everybody going at it, we'd be fit to mix it with all those teams.

"It wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't get promoted because we're such a young team, but we're going out to win every game we can.

"I know Dinny doesn't place just as much emphasis on the national league as Sambo and Woody did last year, but we'd still be expecting to win the great majority of our games in Division Two."
