Shiels planning London operation

Antrim and Dunloy star Paul Shiels
Antrim hurling star Paul Shiels will visit a top specialist in London in the coming weeks in a bid to solve a serious hip problem that has ruled him out for the rest of the year. The Dunloy clubman missed last Sunday's historic Leinster SHC defeat to Dublin with the injury, but is confident that a cure can be found and that he will be back playing again in 2010. "There is a cartilage problem with my hip and part of the bone needs filed away too," the 20-year-old explained. "There are few surgeons down south, but this guy in London (Richard Villar) is the surgeon that discovered the operation. "People have had this injury before and recovered from it. I never thought it was so serious until I went to see a few people about it. I was more disappointed then because it finally hit home that I would not be playing against this season."
