Replying To JahTribe:  "Filthy tackle by the Derry lad cost his team and good enough for them. I hope Damien and Robert have only light knocks. Great to see Cillian back on the pitch and Shane is showing glimpses of this form and will only get better. Big win for us and one I expected, collecting on Galway to win by 4-6 points at 13/2. Derry heads are gone, expect they will go out to Armagh."
Awful tackle and absolutely no need for it.He should get more than just a game.

What a goal by Cian Darcy, great legs from midfield. Delighted for him. Great call by management to bring him back in

Well at least we got that out of the way.Now take next matches v Laois seriously and the board need to do their job and find the right man for the job. They made us struggle for a while but with Probably Kildare coming up Mcdonagh will be even tougher next year.

Of course - it is almost as bad as losing 5 national titles (including 3 AI's) in the last 5 years and being very lucky to scrape a draw against Carlow last week. Show us all your football medals - of course KK don't (or should we say can't) play football! lol

I was thinking the same. They look like a team who's heads are gone. The early stages of that first half they looked like a team under pressure to make a serious comeback statement. McKinless definitely cost his team but although not as malicious, Rogers ill discipline in the second half was nearly as damaging as it cost them 1-1 at a time they were in and around level. And two very senior team members too. Galway a very controlled team and played that game out nicely. Yer keeper very steady. Very tight defensively as well and that is good marshaling of the marquee forwards of both Mayo and Derry two games on the trot.

I thought the red card incident was very bad and a deliberate attempt to injure a key player, that may well rule Comer out of another season. Derry are a super team and have great supporters but this element is an unwelcome recent addition to their game."
Comer had ice on the hamstring and not on the ankle.

Travelled with little hope but sense of duty to support a team under pressure yesterday. For the first time in a very long time, I could say that the team and setup let the county down. I haven't seen as bad as that first half since Fermangh 2002. The few Kerry supporters beside us were actually disappointed at how easy it was for them. A glorified training session. "What is up with ye're lads?" was asked a few times. We had no answers in the stand, or on the pitch. Thus feels like a defining moment for VC. Draw a line and face Louth and Meath with some self respect, or call it a day.

Replying To Gilberto_Eire:  "Who would have thought that playing the same players, and having no game plan or proper coaching would lead to another poor performance?... Ground breaking relevation that. Can't understand this logic in the GAA to never sack a manager mid season, he should have been sent packing after the last game. I'll give you a free tip if you're reading Henry. If you don't even have the ball winners to make a long puck out a 50/50(which isn't even a smart play IMO), you probably shouldn't be pucking the ball long. Maybe work on some sort of system that tries to negate that disadvantage we have. When Conor Cooney is your best "ball winner" from puck outs you're in a bit of bother."

Agree and fair play for travelling. Watched it on GAA Go and the pundits more or less wrote us off for the year afterwards save Murphy who was just being respectful to an old rival. Make no mistake that first half wouldn't cut it in div 3 even it was that bad the wheels totally came off . A complete massacre at one stage looked on the cards. Think they need to go back to basics play the younger lads. Let the next generation take over. There are better ways to lose a match than performance yesterday.

Congrats on a good win. A very ill disciplined performance from us that I don't want to see again. Really disappointed to lose but more disappointed at the ill discipline. Big questions for Harte now from Derrys point of view but a full strength Galway are a match for anyone on their day.

No they weren't. There was very little moaning or whining about Donoghue or Cunningham. There was moaning and whining about McIntyre alright, and rightly so. Wasn't much moaning or whining about O'Neil either, because it was covid years, and people were happy just to see a game on the box. There isn't much moaning or whining about Shefflin at all. Won a Walsh Cup last year to satisfy punters! Quite the opposite actually, we're now known as 'Henry Shefflin's Galway', and not Galway at all.

Replying To MonaghanMan44life:  "Never have I ever seen a worse 35mins in a Monaghan jersey. Unlike the Vinny/clontiberet supporters in the group who like to make excuses, I put the full blame in Vinny's lap. The tactical set up or lack there of is unbelievable at this level. He simple does not know how to set a team up other than his normal effort of putting square pegs in circle holes. Somebody tell me I didn't see Karl O'C in for the throw in at start of second half?! The injury issues which Vinny loves to pedal as an excuse is ridiculous, it's his and his back room teams fault for the injuries! The talk coming out of the camp regarding training etc is disgraceful and player welfare is non existent. Vinny got lucky last year with the draw, we just about beat a terrible Kildare team (look where they are now) and made a semi final by default. If Banty etc was at the helm he'd have the big mouths at his front door Monday morning after that rubbish today. Get that bluffer Vinny & his brother out of Monaghan."
Excellent post… you forgot to add the northern sound birgrade in the excuses fan club…. player welfare is non existent which I heard all about last year… the standard of club football in Monaghan accross all 3 divisions is as poor as I can remember in the last 20 years which is feeding into our county team which isn't vinnys fault… regarding Darren yes he's a loss but come on he's 37 years old…as for a few of his club team mates there nowhere near inter county standard…

To give a better idea on the panel. At U16 club level last year Boyle and Brigids played in Div 3 in the championship and neither reached the final. Best in Div 1 was Oran/St. Croan's,Castlerea St Kevins,Kilmore/Shannon Gaels,Pearses and best in Div 2 St Michaels/St Ronans. Certainly good for the development of these young rossies. @Endgame Kerry did have a easy win in the Munster final against Cork but they also played each other in a play off which Kerry won narrowly. Hard luck to our U17 and senior hurlers championship campaign over but unlucky not to beat Mayo in both games and reach the finals.

Does Ulster Championship Benefit Ulster Teams? - 1 Like(s)

Replying To Temple56:  "Kerry 10 points winners over Monaghan Galway 5 points winners over Derry Mayo 11 points winners over Cavan Fermanagh and Antrim just about scrape over Carlow and Wexford probably two of the worse teams in Leinster. Down the only team that looked impressive this weekend but then again Westmeath the 4th best team in Lenister beat them in a league final. When will Ulster people wake up and see Ulster championship is not what it is made out to be! It means so much for Ulster people to win an Ulster championship because they know all 9 teams in Ulster have no hope of winning an All Ireland!"
Mostly you find lads from the weaker counties rabbiting about "Ulster." There have usually been 2/3 good teams in Ulster over past 50 years, but most are pretty poor. Even those with glorious pasts like Cavan. Besides, the border hatreds are something to behold. I have Tyrone friend from Gortin and few things in life give him greater pleasure than Derry being beaten. He would have enjoyed yesterday immensely. (Not too gone on Donegal either so that wouldn't have counted much.)
