Eamonn O'Hara retires

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

One of my favourite GAA players so I'm very sad to see him go. I will never forget the goal he scored against Galway in Sligo's Connacht final win.

37 years of age, 19 years of service to Sligo GAA, he could've started for any team in the country when he was in his pomp - you are a rare breed Eamonn, enjoy retirement.

A true great of the modern game and one of my all time favourites.

what about the midfield performance against Tyrone in 2002, but yea the bullet against Galway in the Hyde was special. He did something similar in the league against the dubs back in 99/2000, cant be sure.

He was phenomenal, Its gas at 37 he would probably still walk into the Dublin team at midfield.

Thanks for the memories Eamon. Great player and always gave his all for Sligo. Battles with David Brady were worth the entrance fee alone to Mayo - Sligo matches in late 90s. Made a difference when he came on against Mayo in the Connaught final last year and if he was in his pomp, Sligo would probably have beaten us. Don't talk too much dung on the Sunday Game and try to tell it as it is. We need some straight talking on that show.

51. Thats a complement in itself. The fact that you can't be gracious when a great player retires shows how much he irked you when you faced sligo.
congrats. Enjoy the retirement.

Class player in his prime. Best of luck to him.
Wasnt he saying only a few days ago that he wasnt ruling out am return this year?
In his later years I got the impression that he felt he was the main attraction and sligo was a side show, he seemed to be doing far less playing football than talking about it and maybe trying to be controversial also, no more than his old sparring partner d brady. I wouldnt be surprised if walsh dropped him to build up a bit more of team spirit.

His commitment and passion for the game should be an inspiration to every young footballer. It will be some time
before Sligo produce another player of his ability and calibre. Best of luck Eammon. True Legend.

To be honest he always looked like he had just enjoyed a few days in the sun.

I remember him lining out in the farewell match for Anthony Rainbow two and a half years ago and he looked like he had spent the past few months in South Beach.

Class player, one of the few who would have got a game for pretty much any county when he was on form, great going to have been playing, and playing so well at the highest level.

Thought he was better than he actually was. Good all the same. Have to say I dont think he will be a good analyst on the Sunday game. I saw him on League Sunday a couple of weeks back and he came out with some tosh, namely that Bernard Brogan should be taken througout Ireland like some kind od Fair groung attraction.
