Given that today is probably the most defining of Bantys Meath tenure, I find it interesting that Luke Dempsey seems to be throwing his hat into the ring already, should Meath lose.
Anyone who hasn't seen it, here's the tail end of his interview after stepping down as Carlow boss last night.
.....He will continue to take charge of his school St. Joseph's Rochfortbridge.
He's even hinted at Royal County officials, that he'd love to take the Meath job should it become vacant.
"I will always stay involved at management - whatever level, whether club or county," he said.
"Anyone who wants to give me a ring - maybe the Meath job for example!!
Yes, poor form saying what he did at this exact time.
He must have liked what he saw a few weeks ago and would relise working with our current crop, despite what happened in the past.
Anyway, thinking about next season is for the birds. The rest of this season whether it be in the Leinster or AI Championships or the qualifiers is Banty's. Doubt even a thrasing against Kildare or Dublin would change that. But lets hope we can do something of note today and concern ourselves with the remainder of the season for another day.
1206352 pointless thread, lets focus on the rest of the summer and a leinster final day
Jesus joeshow relax. The lad made a refernce in his interview, I simply commented on it as I thought it was strange for a lad to tout for a job that wasn't there. Simple enough. Dont see the need for a comment like that.

Perhaps, although I think it's more evidence that there's growing awareness out there that the current crop of Meath footballers is very good. A lot of coachs will be throwing their hat into the ring should Banty leave, (and I expect he will, despite current improvements).
I wouldn't mind Luke Dempsey at all. He's a very good coach, his record at underage coaching is very impressive and his teams play better football than the Monaghan brand. It's funny though, I'm pretty sure he stated in an interview that he would never have any involvement with the Meath county board again after his experience during the 2009 selection committee. Maybe he expects the County Board to be disappearing aswell?
