Glenullin ease through
November 05, 2007
Glenullin 1-15
Newtownbutler 1-8
Glenullin booked their place in the last four of the Ulster club championship following a seven-point win over Fermanagh side Newtownbutler at Celtic Park.
Newtownbutler were well in contention up until about the 45th minute, but Glenullin then seemed to step up a gear and fired over a number of unanswered points.
For the winners Eoin and Paddy Bradley were in exceptional form scoring 1-7 between them, while their defence was well marshalled by the Mullan's, Brian and Barry.
The Fermanagh champs opened the scoring with two James Connolly frees and a point from Kevin Connolly, but Glenullin hit back with scores from Paddy Bradley, Gerard O'Kane Ruairi and Donal Boylan.
At half time, they lead by 0-9 to 0-5, but points from Barry Connolly, Ruairi Boylan and Colm Monahan left one point between the sides with twelve minutes remaining.
Glenullin took over and points from Gerard O'Kane and Eoin Bradley (3) plus a Boylan free left eight points between the sides. A Frank Mulligan goal for the Fermanagh outfit narrowed the gap, but Paddy Bradley had the final word with a well taken goal to leave it 1-15 to 1-8.
