Na Piarsaigh relegated from top grade of Cork hurling after 65-year stay

September 11, 2022

Na Piarsaigh lose senior status.

After 65 years competing in the top grade of Cork hurling, Na Piarsaigh were relegated from the county's premier senior championship for the first time at Mourneabbey yesterday evening.

Home to the Ó hAilpín brothers, Seán Óg and Setanta, and fellow Cork legend John Gardiner, the city club were on the receiving end of a 20-point (2-27 to 0-13) drubbing from Charleville in their relegation play-off.

Meanwhile, Cork GAA have confirmed that the throw-in times for today's double-bill at Pairc Ui Chaoimh have been deferred by one hour due to inclement weather conditions.

Douglas v St Finbarr's will now take place at 3pm, followed by the meeting of Imokilly and Blackrock at 5 but pending an inspection of the pitch and surrounding areas.
