Despite a season where gate receipts plunged due to the pandemic restrictions outgoing Meath treasurer Jim Mullery (Slane) who was returned unopposed reported a healthy profit in income over expenditure at last night's online Meath County Convention.

The accounts show a surplus of €404,383 for the year ending October 31st. This compares to a deficit of €1,475 in 2019.

Fundraising activities realised €54,845 compared to €89,753 for the previous year. The bulk of that however was for the 2019 Race Day, held in December, which brought in over €50,000. Due to the pandemic there was no Golf Classic this year.

Sponsorship of county teams came to €262,000, sponsorship of club competitions came to €40,500, while advertising signs was up significantly.

On the expenditure side the cost of staging games totalled €110,196 down almost €60,000 on the previous year. Administration expenses were €149,166 compared to €432,981 for 2019. That figure for last year includes a planning/feasibility study for Pairc Tailteann of almost €72,000.

Team expenses came in at almost €500,000, down sharply from the €877,574 for the previous year.

A breakdown of those figures showed a big drop in travelling and catering expenses, medical and physiotherapy and sportsgear and equipment.

Bad debts came to just €3,500.
