The Dromcollogher-Broadford club in West Limerick has been devastated by the death of one of its stalwarts in a farm accident.
Patrick McLoughlin, who was in his early 70s, died on his farm in Broadford on Saturday morning. His son Tom is the holder of seven county SFC medals and was centre back on the Drom-Broadford team that became only the second Limerick side - after Thomond College in 1977 - to win a Munster club SFC title in 2008.
"The GAA and farming communities are very saddened by the news of his death," Limerick GAA chairman John Cregan told the Limerick Leader.
"I understand he went out during the night to tend to a cow which was calving when the incident occurred."
