Highest TV audience for All Ireland football final in five years

The All Ireland football final had a peak audience of over a million viewers.
RTÉ Sport's comprehensive coverage of the 2010 GAA Championship came to a climax yesterday with live coverage of this year's All Ireland Senior Football Championship Final attracting the highest television audience for the event in the last five years. The epic encounter attracted a peak audience of over a million viewers (1.064 million*) on RTÉ Two Television in the final minutes of the match, when Cork beat Down to take home the Sam Maguire for the first time in 20 years.
An average of 900,000** viewers tuned in to The Sunday Game Live from throw-in to final whistle, as the Rebels defeated the Mourne Men by a single point accounting for two thirds of people who were watching television at the time.
The Sunday Game evening highlights programme on RTÉ Two also proved hugely successful as over 300,000*** people tuned in for the two hour programme which included live links from the celebrations in the Cork team hotel, as well as the announcement of The Sunday Game team of the year.
