LGFA v Cill Oige

A 2-8 to 1-4 defeat to Cill Oige in Castledaly last Sunday morning ended our hopes of reaching the Buckley’s SuperValu ladies football junior championship final.

Nothing less than a win would have sufficed, but unfortunately that never looked likely as the Castledaly-Rosemount combination ran out deserving winners. It has been a difficult season with three players transferring to clubs in Kerry and Dublin, team captain Mairead McCormack suffering a season-ending cruciate injury and Leah Farrell being unable to commit due to her college studies, while illness ruled Aine Pettit out of last weekend’s game.

But the team will regroup next year and will hope to end this campaign on a high by beating Milltownpass in their remaining group match.

Team: Niamh Bouabbse; Jenny Barrett, Triona Durkan, Ellie Fitzpatrick; Aideen Pettit, Jill Draper, Anna Wrafter; Tara Dennehy, Kim Cobbe; Jemma Seery (1-1), Laura Murphy (0-2), Roisin Curneen; Niamh Durkan, Becky Ennis (0-1), Sandra Garvin. Subs: Sabrina Jackson, Gillian Heeney, Lorraine Claffey, Aoibhinn Jackson, Eimear Fox, Aleisha Fitzgerald and Aleesha Fuller.
