Garrycastle  Gaa Notes July 18th

Underage

The Western Gael minors had their first outing of the year losing out to a strong Caulry side.

The team's preparation was disrupted by the unfortunate  late withdrawal  of players  due to medical reasons. In the first half they showed too much respect to their opponents  and played like a team who didn't believe in themselves. In the second half they got stuck in and competed much better, winning more ball in midfield  and launching many more attacks. The second half performance  gave a lot of hope for improved performances in future games.

The under 13s were promoted to division 1 this year and as a result are meeting stronger opposition . They played Lilliput Gaels last week and in a real good game came out on the wrong side of  a high scoring match.  After two rounds  the under 15s have won both games having defeated Cill Oige and Milmore Gaels.

Sympathy

The club expresses deepest sympathy to Michael Gantley and the wider Gantley family on the death of Michael s brother, Finbar. Deepest sympathy also to the Ruane family (Gerry) Bliary on the death of Pauline. May they rest in peace.
