Go Games

Southern Gaels hosted both Under 9 and Under 11 Go Games tournaments last Saturday morning in Pairc Chiaráin.  The Under 9s had twenty-five players, both girls and boys on duty and they were split into two teams. They played two games each against neighbours Fr Dalton's from Ballymore. This was the first Blitz for many of the young hurlers and they had a wonderful day.  The Under 11s hosted St Bridget's from Rochfortbridge. Again both sides fielded two teams and played some fine hurling with plenty of gaols and points scored. All players demonstrated the range of skills they practise at coaching sessions. Thanks to all the parents who brought their children and supported on the day.

ACHL Division 3

Southern Gaels 3-19   Ringtown 1-13

Southern Gaels had a comprehensive win in their second League outing of the year. They got off the mark with a goal and five points in the first quarter and worked hard throughout. Ringtown scored 1-3 without reply just before half time but Gaels closed out the game early in the second half with a second Hoctor goal.

Seamus Hoctor was inspirational in an unfamiliar role at full forward. Sean Dowd again impressed in goals and Frank Kelly rolled back the years with a sterling performance. Sean Murphy scored two points in his debut and Evan Farrell also impressed when introduced for his debut.
