Club Membership

Club membership for 2021 is now being collected. Our membership rates for this year have been amended and simplified to take into account likely ongoing restrictions on access to club facilities for much of the year. However your club membership subscriptions are a vital source of club income that facilitates team affiliations, insurance and more. Full club membership is set at €30 with social membership set at €20. Please contact any committee member or our club registrar, Darren Rigney, to renew your membership.

Club News

We recently received notice that the National Club Draw date has been postponed until Friday 4th June. It normally takes place on St. Patricks Day. Our 4th and final investor draw for our pitch development takes place online on Friday, 26th March. Best of luck to all who are in the draw and thanks again for your great support, without which we would not be able to complete our development. As you will all know by now, all club activities are on hold until at least the 5th April when hopefully we will receive more positive news of a return path back to training, playing and club activity. Walking tracks are open in many clubs but unfortunately our own walking track is unavailble currently and that is due to the fact that our grounds are currently closed for the major construction works in the development of our new training pitch and lighting upgrades. We hope that we will be able to recommence these works in the near future also.

Westmeath GAA Movathon

Westmeath GAA are calling on all Westmeath Gaels, at home and abroad, to take part in the Lake County Movathon challenge to help raise vital funds for all our county teams and to help in the refurbishment of TEG Cusack Park. This unique initiative, which is being led by our county stars, starts on Monday 1st March until Monday April 5th. Further details of the challenge will be on local print media and shared on social network channels including our own Facebook page. Your support for our county teams and park is hugely important and will be greatly appreciated.

Supporting Local

Please keep an eye out on our Facebook page this week as we are planning to support the Westmeath GAA Movathon next weekend with a "cycle and donate" around the village. Also, club member and Rounders player, Martin Furey, is presently completing a 63km challenge in March in support of Westmeath Longford Down Syndrome Association. You can support Martin and this great cause by making a donation online on www.idonate.ie/MartinFurey.

Green Kilometre Scheme

This is a newly launched scheme that invites individuals and groups in rural areas to become involved in looking after their own locality. The Green Kilometre scheme invites individuals/groups to choose a rural kilometre or longer stretch of road/loop in their area. The individual/group then commit to maintaining the chosen stretch of road over the course of a year and advise what they will do for the year e.g. litter pick, verge maintenance etc. To assist participants a clean-up kit including litter pickers, hi vis vests, bags and gloves are available and can be requested on registration. For more information email [email protected] or phone 044 933 2125.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to Pauline McDermott on the sad passing of her sister, Catherine Rabstein. May she Rest in Peace.
